Key steps on how to make a blog

1Get your Hosting & Domain

Every WordPress blog needs hosting and I can attest to how awesome SiteGround is.  The pricing is super fair, the performance is really good, you get free SSL (the standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser), you get free emails, and the 24/7 live chat is fucking amazing! Siteground Share Hosting Plans

Visit – You have here 3 different options: StartUp, GrowBig and GoGeek.

For most people starting a new blog, you will probably be okay with the StartUp plan. But if you expect more than 10,000 visitors within a few weeks, or you want some more advanced features, then feel free to upgrade. There are, however, more pros to each plan, and here are the differences in a nutshell:

The SiteGround StartUp plan is the most basic of the bunch and is the usual choice for aspiring bloggers with little to no experience. This plan gives you all the basic hosting features you need for a new website, existing average-size blog, personal website, or a business website. The StartUp plan lives up to its name; it’s a suitable platform for smaller online shops with a reasonable number of products that don’t want to splurge too much. Outgrowing this plan is an inevitable route when you start attracting more than 10,000 unique visits per month on a regular basis.

Now, this plan is a personal favorite of mine and is something that most professionals stick to even after they’ve hit the jackpot. If you need to tap into more resources and other premium features, GrowBig is the plan to beat. Designed to accommodate either single or more heavily-visited websites, it is a popular plan among customers who prefer to host all their sites in one account.

If you’ve made it in the big league and have a really busy page that’s loaded with content, then this plan is your best bet. With GoGeek, customers are hosted on instances, where fewer users share the server resources. On top of this, the plan is great for average-sized e-commerce websites because it can accommodate a much larger product line and also includes features such as server PCI compliance!

Choose your Domain

Siteground Domain

Take your time with this very important step! I can’t stress this enough: when it comes to picking out your domain name, DO NOT RUSH IT. This is what you’ll be known for. This is the handle that will appear in all of your social media platforms, so make it count. Do your research. Make it meaningful and try to avoid the usual mainstream things or trends or slang words that most people might not understand. You want people to remember you. When picking out your domain name it’s also important that you check availability. Is the name you picked out already taken? Does it sound too similar to something that already exists? Is it available on some platforms but taken in others? Do your homework buddy. Here are more tips on choosing a domain name that is perfect for you.

Complete your billing address

Siteground Purchase Plan

3WordPress Blog Theme

WordPress offers some free WordPress blog themes but if you would like to have a professional blog and you don’t have any programming knowledge, you should invest in a good WordPress theme. get ready to shell out some cash. When learning how to make a blog, you should look up the best themes too. It costs around PHP 2,000. I will show you where you can find them and what you should look for.

Choose your WordPress Blog Theme

Themeforest WordPress Blog Themes
Go to On their menu, hover over WordPress and select the category “Blog/Magazine“.

There are a lot of different WordPress blog themes you can choose from. Keep in mind that you need to choose a theme that appeals to your niche. It’s cool; you can change colors, etc after you install the template. When choosing a theme, consider the following:

Is the mobile version of the WordPress blog theme any good?
Most people check and buy the theme on desktops and forget about the mobile version. Usually, more than 60% of a blog’s traffic is via mobile. It’s really important that the design looks good on your mobile phone too. The mobile version should be also user-friendly.

Check the page speed of the website
To check the page speed, you can use “PageSpeed Insights,” a tool from Google. Anther good speed measure tool is GTMetrix. Just copy-paste the URL of the theme in the field and let it do the rest.

Check how many people bought the WordPress blog theme
This one is really important. The creators of the template need to make updates from time to time. If just a few people bought the theme, then maybe they will not make updates in the future, because it’s not worth their time. They would rather create a new one which gets more sales.

Check the reviews.
Check if there are some complaints about the theme. Are the reviews good? Are there any bugs in the system that could cause serious trouble? It pays to check the comments and make your research!

Buy your WordPress Blog Theme
